English Quality on ETH Life

By Lennart Meier

In my opinion, the articles in ETH Life could be written more carefully in general, i.e. also when they are in German. Just today I read "Fachmännin" and am now just waiting for "Mitgliederin". And then there's the issue of hyphenation, where my hypothesis is: As hyphenation in English seems such a complicated issue (which it is not), even many native speakers simply omit all hyphens. Some native speakers of German, exposed to "hyphen-free English", tend to produce "hyphen-free German" as a result.
